KS4 Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education

Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education will comprise of Citizenship, Careers and some Work related Learning (WRL) topics. In addition to the PSHCE lessons, all year groups in school will learn about aspects of the aforementioned subjects via:

Course Outline

The PSHE and Citizenship course aims to prepare and guide students as they embark on life's journey. The course of study involves topics such as healthy lifestyle, personal finance, relationships, drugs education, human rights, politics, law, media, careers, and study skills and enables progression of learning to occur throughout the student’s school life at Mount Carmel.

The Programme of Study (PoS) for KS4 has been produced to take account, the statutory framework for PSHE, concerning Sex and Relationship Education, and guidance on the delivery of Drugs Education. Students will be made aware of the PoS at the beginning of each year. Due to the topical nature of Citizenship and PSHE, new themed topics may be introduced to the PoS during each academic year.

Careers Education

During Year 10 students will have the opportunity to discuss the various options open to them post 16 with staff and speakers from colleges and the business community.

Many colleges, universities and employers are looking for students with an understanding of the world, and PHCE will provide this.
