This Week's Prayers

Monday 4th July 2016

Today’s reflection is provided by Micaiah John 8EB and it is based on Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Pride

Confidence is one thing, but pride is another. Many people may not know this because they are so wrapped up in all the best things about themselves that they forget to congratulate others when something good happens to them. Don’t be that person that never thinks of others, always be grateful for the family and friends around you.

Let us pray: in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord, please help us to think of others instead of thinking only of ourselves.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Tuesday 5th July 2016

Today’s reflection is provided by Kaway Joof 8EB and it is based on John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Truth

The truth is what you should be telling throughout your life instead of lies. The truth is what people want to hear from your mouth. One of the most important things in life is the truth, even though it may hurt. Always tell the truth from the heart and always be true to yourself. Once you are true to yourself, you can tell the truth with ease. Sometimes the truth hurts the person who is listening but you need to tell them. If you think that the dress that your friend is wearing doesn’t suit them, you need to tell them.

Let us pray: in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, help us to tell the truth all the time and not to be misled by lies.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Wednesday 6th July 2016

Today’s reflection is provided by Esther L. Mateta 8EB and it is based on Deuteronomy 23:6. ‘Do not seek a treaty of friendship with them as long as you live.’

Friendship

Friendship is a very powerful thing and it is great thing, but not having friendship in your life is not great. Friendship is so important because you need people in your life to support you in every situation. God believes that friendship is key to almost everything in life.

Let us pray: in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Our Father; you protect us and you love us. Make sure we all have friendship in our lives to help us with anything we need.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Thursday 7th July 2016

Today’s reflection is provided by Kyra Maragh 8RP and it is base 1 Corinthians 10:30 “If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for?”

Thankfulness

What is thankfulness? Thankfulness is when you are grateful for food; some children don’t get given a hot meal but you get given one every day. In Haiti many children are dying because their country can’t afford the basics to save a child e.g. medicine, food, water. But our country is funded to help children all across the world to provide lifesaving medication.
We should be thankful because all of our needs and desires are answered by God.

Let us pray: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord, help guide us to the right path and help every child going through famine and war be provided with medicine, food and shelter and support through this difficult time.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Friday 8th July 2016

Today’s prayer is provided by Venora Buachie 8RP and it is based on Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

Self-control

Have you ever got so angry you felt to punch the lights out of the ones you love? Well, that is all relating on self-control. Everyone seems so upset sometimes that they feel that there is no one they can’t talk to, therefore they lash out at people then regret it later on. Self-control could be used in a wide range of ways , you could do it by staying strong when someone is cursing you or knowing when to speak. Just say someone misses the bus and trips up on a rock that doesn’t give you the right to `point and shout mean things at them. This passage of scripture says that in a city there has to be self-control and peace otherwise it would be rebellious a place where rumours constantly spread.

Let us pray: in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Dear Lord, give us the strength to know when to control our reactions. May we have the strength to turn the other cheek even when it may be very hard.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
